Pharaoh's Helicopter? There are some very strange hieroglyphics in the Temple of Osiris at Abydos. According to many UFO enthusiasts and Atlantis proponents, these glyphs depict highly developed crafts, specifically a helicopter, a submarine, some form of flying saucer, and a jet plane. What are these inscriptions all about? Glyphs Unretouched The glyphs are a result of both erosion of the stone surface (evident elsewhere in the temple) and the process of filling in and re-carving the stone to replace some of the original hieroglyphics. The technical term for such a surface that has been written on more than once is a palimpsest. The usurping and modifying of inscriptions was common in ancient Egypt throughout its history. The Abydos glyph was modified at least once in antiquity, and perhaps twice. Some of the filling has fallen out in places where the older and the newer inscriptions overlap, and the result is unique and odd-looking. Glyphs Superimposed The text is part of the titulary of Ramesses II and can be translated as "The one of the Two Ladies, who suppresses the nine foreign countries." This replaces the royal titulary of Seti I that was originally carved into the stone. More technically, the actual "helicopter" seems to be a portion of the psd.t sign and the X3s.t sign on top of each other, with portions missing. An apparent change in scale also mucks things up. Glyphs In Context If the ancient Egyptians had vehicles such as helicopters, submarines, and jet airplanes, one would expect to find some evidence of this other than in a single inscription on the lintel of a single temple. This type of large machinery requires a vast amount of support (including fuel, parts, factories, etc.) but there is no trace of any such support in all of Egypt. The Egyptian literature is also bereft of any boast, much less passing mention, of advanced aircraft. Obviously this situation doesn't seem peculiar to those who really want to believe that the ancient Egyptians flew around in airplanes. Glyphs In Situ

Has anyone with an understanding of Egyptian Hieroglyphs said anything about this? I have a friend who is fairly proficient in it and is an Egyptologist, I'll see what she makes of it.

Im not sure m8 but theres talk that these hyroglphics are in another Temple in Abydos. I however cant find pics to corraborate these claims but there is articles etc that support this. I dont believe these glyphs are retouched i think its another cover story crap on our past which they dont want us to know about. David Hugo Boyle has done a hell of alot of research on egypt and his findings are absolutely fantastic. He does a presentation in blackpool which im going to go to one day as the Guys a Genious.

There are those who argue that the unique shapes represent truly ancient Egyptian ideas that we modern people are misinterpreting. I will be very interested in Manxboz's friend's thoughts.
I once heard on a doco that there were original images sculpted and then later sculpted over accidentally creating the illusion of a boat, helicopter, airplane, etc.

There's a lot about Ancient Egypt we arnt being told such as the Real age of the Pyramids etc. Only a handfull of people are aloud to go and study the Temples and Pyramids etc. Theres a military area over in Egypt cant remember where but it hosts loads of Ancient Ruins which even the best Egyptologists arnt aloud to see.

Truth be told I agree with the bolded in particular. Why the secrecy? Why can't scientists explore and examine certain things? If, for some reason, Man was visited by other wordly entities, or even if it us who visited the past, then what's the big deal? Bah! I get so frustrated with the secrecy.
