Hello All,
Could someone inform me the criteria used that determines who actually is an UFO "expert". And how does that description work to convey enough trust that someone would purchase a book or a ticket to a conference where said book would probably be available? I am not being cynical as I KNOW there must be more than a subjective answer to this. I mean, unless there is no reference point within the field, then what is used to gauge an expert level ufologist?

Hello All,
I felt pretty bad for the guy. His last statement was and I quote "Absolutely, get them debating get them thinking, it doesn't matter if they disagree, but as long as you've got an opinion on this- let's face it most people have- that's great". What? Is that it? The man said absolutely squat except to highlight what I considered to be the only reason for the entire interview. To hype the movie "Super 8" and a raffle at your local 7-11. Folks, this is a nightmare! A government insider who has nothing that the rest of us do not already have. Which is also nothing. Hey, today I can believe a good story out of the gate like anyone else. But tomorrow it had better stand up as well. This interview never made it out of the gate IMHO. I am not a believer and I'm looking hard these days as to why that is. This video did not help one bit.

Hello All,
You know Someone COULD have replied to this by saying something like: "Well, hiflier, I see your point but the truth of it is every one in any sensitive top secret position signs a non-disclosure contract at release and so Nick Pope can say nothing really." Ahhhhhhhh answering one's own post is soooo wonderful, soooo blissful, and soooo fufilling. You should try it sometime. Talk about HEAVEN!

quite a while ago on another forum with about 30,000 members I started a thread titled whats the point of nick pope, it was agreed that there is no point to him, that he's dining out on the back of the ufo subject, he may well know more than he lets on, that may be the reason he gets away with it, I have been in the same room as him and he is a despicable little man lol, there you go hiflier, in a nutshell, I answer my own posts too, 400 odd visits a day this forum gets but only 5/6 bother to post is a tad disappointing.

Nick Pope is a wannabe UFO Expert if you ask me, hes into all the documentarys ect and of course news related broadcasts. Hes making a living off UFO's just because he was a GOV spokesperson, He knows alot more than he tells everyone, take rendlesham forrest incident for instance, He has seen the UK GOV Files on this yet he will not talk about it untill the GOV Declassify them. He's a charlatan out to get all he can. I can link to where he wont disscuss anything if you want ?

Hello meldrew!
Old bean! I've missed you. Where the heck would I be now without your gentle prodding. I'd probably still be whining and sniveling about the Black Triangles. BUT thanks to your knowledge about "Biggy" Bigelow as you so aptly put it it did take some of the burden I was feeling away. Forgot to thank you for that one chap, you saved me weeks of "research".
But ridiculous of me not to reply to your post. I must be losing my touch. All those Forums have got me a bit glazed over I guess. Anyway, your post- In my right mind why would I would I want to see where Nick won't discuss anything when it was so obvious in the interview? I'm not daft you know.
OOPS! As you can see, since most of the UFO Forums are UK, I've osmosed some lingo.

Hello meldrew,
BOO! Did the hiccups go away? Monsters are good for that sort of thing, everyone should have a small one stashed in the medicine closet. You know, it would be like Insp. Clouseau's Kato jumping out of the refridge or something. And of course I know the time there, time zones are my specialty now didn't you know? Appreciate the thought though if it were true (snicker, snicker!).

Hello uforn,
Noted, and while on the subject I saw Mr. Pope's name on the 1995 148-page Briefing Document to various members of the U.S. government and it's branches. And there, on page 89, under the section called "1991-1994: Recent Cases" was a quote by Mr. Pope WRT a 1993 sighting over Great Britain. He was at (Guess what? No? Then I'll tell you!) the Sept. 19, 1995 MUFON Symposium in Portsmouth, New Hampshire (U.S.).
The guy, (along with many others), has been milking the industry (I don't know what else to call it) for at least 17 yrs. which is pretty amazing since he didn't leave the MoD intill 2006. What a hoser.
BTW there is nearly NOTHING in the Briefing Document as it was put together by MUFON, CUFOS, and FUFOR. About the only interesting thing is that it was funded by Laurance S. Rockefeller. Other than that.........nothing we don't know. What a joke, but for uninitiated pols I guess you gotta start somewhere. Starting at the TRUTH would be good though, ya THINK?

Hello pbf,
I've missed you too! You got in late and missed the undercurrent of well-wishes meldrew and I were exchanging after my recent hiatus. It's good to be back. WRT to Nick Pope, I'd have to say I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. I would be curious to know more about meldrew's encounter with him though.
Hope you are well- looking forward to our usual cordial dialogue.

Hello All,
I think it necessary at this point to explain a bit why it would appear that I do not respect Nick Pope.
It comes down to my upbringing. I was taught to ALWAYS respect another individual straight away on the simple basis that they are Human and that they, on that sole basis, have tremendous value. So right from the get-go one gets high marks.
After that, the level respect will either remain unchanged or go up depending on how one conducts one's affairs. From a higher point that respect will modulate up or down but will never go below the initial starting point.
In Nick Pope's case I give him credit where credit is due. But his overall meter of respect has dropped signifcantly because, in spite of the apparent size and importance of the UFO enigma including monies exchanged, he has shown a complete and selfish disregard for the well being of the UFO community as a whole and his respect for it.
He is NOT the only one. But the historical position of his life could have advanced Truth, even at his own expense, had he been of stronger character and self conviction and the betterment of Humanity was one of his apparent goals. For that reason, While I respect him as a Human as do I everyone, sight unseen, it seems that to Nick Pope the only thing that matters is Nick Pope. Too bad.
We may never know how much potential he may possess. It's just further proof IMHO that the subject has regressed. As far as UFOs go, we are truly in the proverbial Dark Ages.

Yes I agree Nick Pope just thinks of himself and nothing else, he could blow the lid on Rendlesham Forrest but chooses to keep his mouth shut

Hello uforn, Yes, and that wouldn't be all! Just like people in a field know other people in the field (like drummers know other drummers) The Illinois (U.S.) Triangle investigators know their counterparts in other countries. Yep, Ol' St. Nick could disperse a bag full of goodies had he the barneys. Then again, if it's military that changes the game entirely. If that were the case I don't know if I'd talk either. I may in fact find the UFO subtrafuge quite handy indeed- Promoting and outside the box senario and playing the secret ET card for all it's worth. At least until I was in an unassailable stragegic position where no other world power would dare cross me. I was considering the other day what it might be like to stand next to a BBD docked on the ground. You know 100 meters long or so, 5 meters thick, tethered, but floating about a meter off the ground. What an amazing sight that would be! BTW, seen these? www.ufodigest.com/news/0408/ufo-smokescreen-print.htmlwww.ufodigest.com/news/0408/ufo-smokescreen7-print.html

I generally disregard anything with Nick Pope in the title now. I don't care for people who profit off of gullible people.

Hello simplyerik, I generally disregard anything with Nick Pope in the title now. I don't care for people who profit off of gullible people. Yeah, it's been an eye opener to see how many there are too. Some personal codes of social ethic seem to be somewhat lacking IMHO. Any more comments will probably be beating the already dead horse. Unless of course one wishes to draft a formal public message to the man in question presenting the same pressure on him for disclosure as he rather overtly has for the release of MoD files. My hero! And, that being said any files, released to the public are themselves questionable. If CGI footage can be mate to look so convincing then generating an old looking file should be a piece of cake! I'm telling you folks, nothing short of a UFO landing in my own yard is going to work for me, never mind the White House Rose Garden! Unless of course the sky became filled with them one day.
