I know what you mean baz, this altered state of mind thing is not easy to research, just when I thought I was getting somewhere I read this,
According to the Parapsychological Association, parapsychologists do not study all paranormal phenomena, nor are they concerned with astrology, UFOs, Bigfoot, paganism, vampires, alchemy, or witchcraft.

Brain waves Your brain is made up of billions of brain cells called neurons, which use electricity to communicate with each other. The combination of millions of neurons sending signals at once produces an enormous amount of electrical activity in the brain, which can be detected using sensitive medical equipment (such as an EEG), measuring electricity levels over areas of the scalp. The combination of electrical activity of the brain is commonly called a Brainwave pattern, because of its cyclic, 'wave-like' nature. Our mind regulates its activities by means of electric waves which are registered in the brain, emiting tiny electrochemical impulses of varied frequencies, which can be registered by an electroencephalogram. These brainwaves are known as: Beta emited when we are consciously alert, or we feel agitated, tense, afraid, with frequencies ranging from 13 to 60 pulses per second in the Hertz scale. Alpha when we are in a state of physical and mental relaxation, although aware of what is happening around us, its frequency are around 7 to 13 pulses per second. Theta more or less 4 to 7 pulses, it is a state of somnolence with reduced consciousness. Delta when there is unconsciousness, deep sleep or catalepsy, emitting between 0.1 and 4 cycles per second. In general, we are accostumed to using the beta brain rythm. When we diminish the brain rythm to alpha, we put ourselves in the ideal condition to learn new information, keep fact, data, perform elaborate tasks, learn languages, analyse complex situations. Meditation, relaxation exercises, and activities that enable the sense of calm, also enable this alpha state. According to neuroscientists, analysing electroencephalograms of people submmited to tests in order to research the effect of decreasing the brain rythm, the attentive relaxation or the deep relaxation, produce signficant increases in the levels of beta-endorphin, noroepinephrine and dopamine, linked to feelings of enlarged mental clarity and formation of rememberances, and that this effect lasts for hours and even days. It is an ideal state for synthetic thought and creativity, the proper functions of the right hemisphere. As it is easy for the hemisphere to create images, to visualise, to make associations, to deal with drawings, diagrams and emotions, as well as the use of good-humour and pleasure, learning is better absorbed if these elements are added to the study methods. www.doctorhugo.org/brainwaves/brainwaves.htmlWell it's a start

uforn thank you so much for the great post on Brain Waves. I can see how it does apply to my experience. I don't know enough info to start a new Thread on the subject but would really like for someone like you that knows more about the subject to start one if at all possible.

Hello cindy, and All,
I have read many reports of the calm witnesses experience, especially when these triangular craft pass overhead. Some feel a certain warmth- physically. I find this particular phenomenon very curious indeed. It gets the scientific juices flowing and just when I thought I was at cruising speed on the subject this aspect comes calling- just what I needed! But I'm looking at this from a psy-ops angle so there will be much research to do. I agree with uforn, a brainwave thread would be good to delve into this subject further.
edit for spelling

I done a few hours on the mood altering subject, Tesla might have discovered this, it might well have something to do with a very strong eletro magnetic field, I'm not ready to post an essay on it yet

Hello meldrew,
Or a weak microwave one. On the flip side, it could be the result of of a stronger infrared night vision source for wide field surveillance. Sorry, gotta stay with the military stuff. The reason being that the shape is not required for space travel. It's more conducive to atmospheric streamlining. But, off topic for here.

I've got a hunch, as baz says, that brainwaves are affected, I think by basically electricity, I have read reports of feelings of dread as well as euphoria, we know they done electric shock therapy years ago, so we know there is a connection.

I could use some of that "electric shock therapy" as my sciatica is giving me a fit right now!! I will have to settle for and ice pack instead..... I would like to give a big THANKS to bazmatic for the help with my new signature. As my daughter would say..."It's the bomb!!" (I think that's a good thing") I appreciate you all giving me a warm welcome

I've got a hunch, as baz says, that brainwaves are affected, I think by basically electricity, I have read reports of feelings of dread as well as euphoria, we know they done electric shock therapy years ago, so we know there is a connection. I read somewhere that an abductee aboard a ship was asked if he wanted to meet his God, he replied that he would and was taken into an empty room, apart from one round object in the center. He recalled the feeling of great love, power and all the feelings of standing next to his God. This account comes from one of my old dusty tomes which are currently housed under the bed I would think from about the 70's. I will send out a search party for the aforementioned books early in 2013
