BBC film crew held at gunpoint after sneaking into Area 51. A BBC film crew was arrested at gunpoint while trying to sneak into Area 51, the notorious US military base where some people believe lies a UFO. While filming new BBC Three series UFO: Conspiracy Road Trip, Irish comedian Andrew Maxwell and UFO expert Darren Perks tried to get into the site. The 12-strong crew had visited the infamous Area 51 site in Nevada looking for evidence that a flying saucer and even alien bodies had been held there by the US military since the 1940s. It was as they crossed the border into the site that they were arrested by military officers, who confiscated their phones, wallets and identification. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Perks said that they had been filming for half an hour at what is known as the ‘Back Gate’ of Area 51, when they decided to walk past the barriers and into the restricted area. They really should have expected this. Area 51 is a restricted, military area. Of course trespassers will be arrested. It’s not a conspiracy. I wonder if they will make it out to be that way. Conspiracy Road Trip (BBC3) good publicity for the show that goes out this monday, 8pm bst. I will watch it but I think it will be the usual mickee take, they done one on religion this week, with no mickeeeeee taking.

Saw a program on TV last night (I want to believe in UFO's by Danny Dyer) and some chap in Wales records all the sky each night via camera's, It takes him 4 hours a day to watch the results at high speed. On one of the playbacks there was a black triangle attempting to push a brightly lit object out of the way, as if they did not want it in the area. How strange, but looked real to me!

if we were to have a spread bet, I would bet the three words "little green men" is mentioned in the first 30 seconds. the docu on religion last monday was quite good, it was creationism versus evolution, they had an answer for everything did the religious lot, and got quite rude when the evidence was put in front of them, they wouldn't have any of it lol even when a boat builder proved you can't build a wooden boat (ark) big enough to hold two of each animal. that's more than enough religious talk, they are part of the same series so there may be a bit of a fair look at the subject, c'mon just because every other TV docu on the subject just ridicules it, doesn't mean this one will.
what am I saying, of course it will be a load of cack ;D

here's a thing. a book I have and re read called simply the UFO phenomenon by john michael greer 2009, it says in this book that 50% of Americans believe in UFOs, so if that's the same here then the BBC are taking the piss out of half the population.

I noticed staffordshire ufo dude who was whining on ats earlier, claiming he is well known and he's 99.9% sure aliens are responsible for cattle mutilations, a bold statement indeed.

Ok I need to watch this again (Ive got it taped) but I noticed with John Lear that he talked about the J-Rods, which is a name of an Alien given to us by Dan Burisch. We have been talking about this here uforesearchnetwork.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=newmembers&action=display&thread=2966&page=1Dan Burisch is a proven fraud, I believe he took Bob Lazars story and put his own twist on it. Now then Bob exposed Area 51 in 1989, John Lear played a part in this story as he was friends with Bob. Bob never mentioned in his statements of meeting any aliens or anything like that, nor did he give a name to an alien or alien race. So this is where it gets interesting, John Lear has been a big supporter of Lazar from the begining, but Bob never mentioned J-Rod aliens, in fact Bob Lazar made a statement on Dan Burisch claiming not to believe a word this guy says. So what game is lear playing here as it looks to me that he is supporting both storys when we know one of then is totally false

I'm pretty sure john lear said (of the greys) "the government call them jrods", no mention of any one or anything else.

Hello uforn,
What a great opportunity to put the UFO Research Network on the map! Get in touch with the BBC and needle them. Then send an email to the Base Commander at Area 51 and tell him/her what a great job they did in defending against the tin-foil crackpots. Then send that to the BBC as well. This Forum WILL GET NOTICED.

again we have to look at the quality of experts they wheeled out for this, we have to look at the quality of the folks on the road trip, and we have to look at the quality or lack of, in the editing. I have personally been caught up in the big lie that is advertised as a documentary, I have been the victim of selective editing to make me look bad and give the programme some validity when there was none what so ever.
why did they select john lear to be an expert ? anyone involved in the ufo scene knows he's a complete fruit cake. where did they get annie jacobsen from, with her story of roswell 47 being a russian disc dropped from an aircraft with deliberately deformed midgets in it, and no source for this claim. where did they get the fool who rapped tin foil around his head, (probably a researcher for the program), why did they put a stop to the lie detector test at the last moment when the woman was willing to take it, would that have thrown a spanner in the works ?

Im watching this again, ( Ill probably watch it another 10 times or so) All I can say in reguards to this BBC Documentary is represented in this image below: The BBC have no interest in this subject other than to RIDICULE it. I dare bet there was some major editing done on questions asked and responses from some of the people that took part. Im sure they had their opinion set from the start and focused the editing of the opinions to suit their agenda, which is obviously to ridicule the subject. ******* BBC!!!!

Darren Perks is the UFO Investigator / Researcher that was a big part of this documentary. Darren is the founder of UFO Shropshire website. He has put an article up explaining his role in the documentary. Quote: This is the official statement from Darren Perks in response to the BBC3 Conpsiracy Road Trip UFO show he starred in:
“I decided to get involved in this show mainly for personal reasons. I saw it as an opportunity to get over to the USA and extend my own UFO investigation and research. By this I mean the fact that I was able to meet some different experts in their own fields and go to locations that relate to the UFO phenomena. For that I am grateful and I have managed to network with other people and ufologists due to the trip.
The show was not set up and I do honestly feel it was not propaganda. Alot of people say the BBC are all about propaganda and I do agree on this to a certain extend on certain subjects. But this show was not at all designed in that way. I was there, I saw it produced and I took part. If at any point on the trip I felt like I was contributing to a propaganda piece I would not have carried on and I know some of the others with me also felt that way.
The presenter Andrew Maxwell basically speaks his mind and quite rightly. The aim of the show was to logically explore the UFO phenomena, getting the views from five people with an interest in the subject, whilst also getting the views of various other people in other subjects relating to UFOs. None of the five people on the show were told what to say or do and they freely expressed themselves. Although time constraints and situations affected the production companies ability to get certain experts involved in the show, I feel that the experts that did feature did a good job, and I would personally like to thank them for their time and input.
Andrew Maxwell is a good person and I can understand his way of thinking whilst doing these shows. He had some very valid points and I am glad that he presented this show. I have nothing bad to say about him and I fully support him should he do other shows like this. Rather than the same old type of presenter this was something new and different and the majority of people will see this. Only the usual blinkered moaners will complain.
One of the main points I put across to the production company before I got involved, was that the show had to be serious but also have a fun side. There is nothing worse than having the same old show about UFOs that is dull, boring and follows the same script as every other UFO show before it. So I am pleased that we have seen the seriousness of the subject and also the fun side. It’s good to get a mix, and I am glad that the show came across in this way. If you want more people to become interested in ufology you also have to make it fun.
I do not regret what happened at Area 51. Yes, it was stupid and irresponsible but at the end of the day we were all under the guidance of the director, producer and production team. We all and I mean all made a group decision to go onto the restricted area. Yes, I could have refused but I didn’t and that is that. There is nothing I can do about it and life goes on. We went there to film and nothing else. We didn’t try to sneak in as some have put it and we didn’t go there to antagonise the guards. We went too far and got fined. Personally I took alot of useful information from the incident. It has obviously generated interest in the show and the BBC must be rubbing their hands together because of it which is to be expected.
What I want people to remember is, that we filmed for 10 days solid. There are alot of things we filmed that have not been included in the show which is a shame, but then that’s how TV works. You simply can’t put everything in and to be fair there were some things that quite frankly would show some of the people up, so I’m glad in some respect of this. It would be great for everyone to have seen more, and you never know a third series might be on the cards with a UFO subject again…
I thought this show was good and various points came across well. I do not agree with everything that was aired but there is nothing I can do about that. This show was never going to be really in depth on the subject and people need to remember that. I will continue to investigate and research the UFO phenomena so that people can get as much knowledge on this subject as possible and the show does not affect my ability to carry on doing that.
There has been positive and good comments made about the show and some negative ones. I personally take no notice of the negative comments made by people who wish to try and ridicule anything that was said on the show by myself, Brigitte, Franky, Scott, Ben and Andrew. I also know that the others feel the same way. Unfortunately there are those that will try to rock the boat because they disapprove of the show, and what I say to them is ‘dont bother it will have no affect what so ever’. Positive comments are always welcomed and thank you to the people who have given these.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the production company Renegade Pictures and the BBC for letting me get involved in this show. I got on really well with all people involved in the trip, and I am glad I met a great bunch of people in Ben, Scott, Brigitte and Franky who I now regard as friends. Thanks to the production team and film crew it was a pleasure to work with you and Scott Country www.scottcountry.co.uk for letting me take and use their amazing digital night vision kit the Pulsar 550. Andrew Maxwell was good presenter and guided the direction of the show well. His humour was outstanding and at times I have never laughed so much.
Hope you enjoyed the show.” www.ufoshropshire.co.uk/?p=807 |
Ive got some questions for Darren if anyone else has any let me know as Im going to be getting in touch with him over this piss take of a documentary. He calls himself a UFO Investigator/Researcher yeah ok
