Is it time to admit aliens don't exist? By DR DAVID CLARKE, National Archive UFO expert Published: 07th November 2012 IS it all over for UFOs? Some experts claim modern technology has killed off any chance of little green men. They believe the advent of camera phones and the internet means if there really was alien activity it would have been recorded and proved by now. Here, a UFO expert argues why he has concluded aliens are little more than a myth. PEOPLE still talk about aliens today but where is the evidence for them? I’d say there’s lots of chatter but no meat. No one is seeing anything new. The last really good case was in 2007 when a pilot saw something while flying over the Channel Islands — it was a bright, pencil-shaped object. But it turned out to be a ferry and this was confirmed by radar maps and ship timetables. It knocks it on the head when you think that everyone is carrying around mobile cameras these days. Grainy pictures are a thing of the past. Who, nowadays, is likely to be out and about and doesn’t have some form of camera to hand? Phone cameras are so advanced. There is footage of the July bombings in 2007 and major revolutions taking place around the world happening in real time. But where is the footage of aliens? There is some footage but it’s so obviously faked. That’s the challenge to people who say there is no doubt that aliens exist. If you go back 400 or 500 years people were convinced witches existed. In 500 years’ time, people will look back and ask why people believed in such a ridiculous thing as aliens. With the vast majority of sight-ings, there’s an explanation. And now the internet knocks myths on the head straight away. Rather than taking months and years to get to the bottom of a strange sighting, you can do it in a matter of days — and the mystery gets killed off. If you ask the people who believe in UFOs for their best evidence, they’ll probably cite an example from the pre-1980s. But they happened so long ago, no one can get to the bottom of those cases. But instances like that just won’t be repeated these days. People are good story-tellers and have lots of motivations for telling stories about UFOs. A leap of faith is needed when it comes to believing in UFOs. But if someone ate your cabbages, you wouldn’t think it was the pixies and the same applies to UFOs. The evidence doesn’t convince scientists, government ministers or the person in the street. There’s no doubt people see UFOs, but UFOs do not mean aliens. The most sensible ufologists — and there are sensible ones — would agree that out of the 500 or so sightings reported every year, almost all of them are Chinese lanterns. Telescopes all over the world are watching the skies and haven’t picked anything up. High-powered radars are not picking anything up that can’t be explained. People say it’s the government covering it up. But it’s not just the government looking for them so it can’t be a cover-up. And if aliens can avoid all our radars, why do they bother to turn on the lights when they arrive? Is he refering to Captain Ray Bowyers UFO Incident ? as that was from 2007 and over the Channel Islands ? AS far as I know this is new to me in that he witnessed a "ferry" where are these confirmations? WE need to do some research on Dr Clarke some things with him are just not adding up ?

He said ''The most sensible ufologists — and there are sensible ones — would agree that out of the 500 or so sightings reported every year, almost all of them are Chinese lanterns.'' I think he's lost the plot, what about balloons, toys, fakes and the occasional 'test' vehicle

which reminds me, what about a signed in members only section, I thought it a while ago but this thread has bought it back, don't forget this is a delicate subject to some, so I suggest we all take it a bit easy, and I aspire to being a nurd, easy life being a nurd

Who's to say for sure that there is a God? We cant deny there is and we cant prove there isn't. Ergo, who's to say there isn't intelligent life on other planets. we cant deny the probability and we cant prove or disprove alien existence.
Surely it's best to sit back and wait to see. In the coming decades there will be massive moves forward in technology which will enable us to explore far further into space than ever before.
I think it's not a matter of If, but more a matter of when we find life out there.

Hello rondetto,
First off, WELCOME to UFORN. It's a fine research site as you will see when you get around a bit. You bring up a very good point. There are those here that have had sightings. Personally I have not but, like others, it's hard to imagine we are the only ones around. There may be others that may not think we are intelligent at all like we think we are. That aside the search is on and the research continues so enjoy the ride here and add your thought whever you wish. It is your Forum after all, eh?

Who is to say for sure there is a God? I guess that all depends on your definition of God…. to a colony of ants… I am sure to them, if they could comprehend, we, as humans would appear as a God… but also…. Would not a simple moth appear to them as a God?
To ancient mankind… without a tru understanding of the world, anything “alien” would have been interpreted as a God…
So… does God exist? I personally think there is a higher power… will I ever be able to prove such a thing? Not in this lifetime…. I don’t think anyone has that ability. I think that is why they call it “faith” you just have to believe….
But for all I know…. Maybe my higher power is really nothing more than what a moth is to an ant…

Yeah, faulty logic. The main argument is "if they were, we'd know by now". This is easily disproved by 2 main points.
1. There ARE pictures and videos etc. If you like you can question authenticity or whatever, but they are out there. So it's not like there's a lack of evidence, more a matter of determining what the evidence *means*.
2. Humankind has come a pretty far way in the last few thousand years: we have medicine that was unthought of a century ago, by some estimates we've doubled the length of the human lifespan, information is distributed infinitely faster than it was even a few decades ago. However, despite all this accomplishment, there's still a huge amount we don't know. So the idea of 'if it was possible/true, we'd know by now' is really kind of flawed on the base of it.

here's the thing. what evidence do we have to say there are aliens visiting Earth, the maths will suggest there are aliens out there somewhere, but are they here or nearby as the vast distances involved would suggest they haven't travelled here. we do however have weird objects flying around our skies, so whos controlling them is the big question. If any one has any thing on aliens that hasn't been debunked then I will definitely have a look now when it comes to hearsay, do we include uncorroborated evidence or not, I have been told before there is proof but when I ask to see the proof it is never forthcoming.

Where do abductions fall into this category?
like what was told to me... we should not worry about the craft itself.... but who is it flying the craft and what is there purpose?
IDK... betty and barney hill... pretty convincing stuff, no?

I once had a tete a tete with one of David Ickes senior staff, they assured me that they had video proof of reptilians, after a few frustrating posts, even offering to go private, I was told they could not show me the PROOF due to the source, this is typical of trying to find anything that isn't hearsay.

I think I know why Dr David Clarke has been in the news a bit of late, yes his book from 2009 has been re-released with updated topics and an extra 60 odd pages, his publishers have been doing some promotion work by getting news papers to print eyebrow raising headlines.

The title of this article is all wrong in my opinion. I think it should have been ~ Is it time to admit aliens have not visited earth.
I dont think you will find a Scientist on the planet that does not believe there is Alien life elsewhere.

As humans, we are so blindly egotistical.
So blind that we truly underestimate the knowledge and capability of the higher intelligence. Don't you think they realize the new technology that they've taken precautions? I would think so.

Hello Aelius,
Proof of that higher intelligence needs to come first before any claims of capability or knowledge can be determined. Do you have that proof?

Hello Aelius, Proof of that higher intelligence needs to come first before any claims of capability or knowledge can be determined. Do you have that proof? Most certainly does not. Not if the higher intelligence doesn't wish to be noticed by the lesser intelligence. You see, this is the ego that I was talking about.
