Looking Back
The triangle remains a top three UFO shape for 2012 with 685 U.S. reports filed through December 15, 2012. Coverage will continue with the remaining 2012 months until we have a complete log of the best triangle cases from the year. The witness statements here are edited testimony. You may view the complete and unedited testimony using the case links provided.
November 2, 2012, 6:35 p.m., Phoenix, Maricopa County, AZ, Case 43729. "As it moved further west you can clearly see the lights are in a triangle pattern," the witness stated. "When we first saw it, appeared to be three large, non-blinking, slow moving, white lights in a row (as shown on the other YouTube video) but clearly a triangle pattern as seen in my video. Watch 'bright lights over phoenix 11/2/12' first and then mine, 'UFO Phoenix 11/2/12.' Watching both videos gives a great perception of exactly what my mom and I saw."
November 3, 2012, 5:30 p.m., Katy, Waller County, TX, Case 43835. "I usually take a lot of pictures because I like photography," the witness stated. "When I showed them to my wife, we noticed the green sphere-like object in the sky and both observed that it was moving back and forth and up and down. We both knew this was not a plane. There also was another, smaller object. The pictures were taken between two and four seconds apart, so it was moving at a great speed. There is a small airport nearby, and we are very familiar with the landing and flight patterns, also colors of airplanes. There is a green outline in the clouds and it looks like a green beam going downward. The object changed shape or possibly turned over and went to the south where it seemed to join with a cloaked, large object, which can be seen in the last photos. It looks like a cloud, but there is a clear outline of a huge disk, and cloud/vapor trail coming from the south/southwest. We put the photos onto our computer and enlarged them and in some of the pictures of the green sphere you can see what looks like windows, and it appears to be acorn-shaped. When it changed directions, you can see rows of lights, and on each side there are three lights."
November 3, 2012, 11:45 p.m., Des Moines, Polk County, IA, Case 43716. "I was looking east when I noticed a bright orange/red light in the sky," the witness stated. "Upon a second look I noticed two more identical lights. The lights were aligned like the three points of a triangle. I could not see a solid object between the lights but the way they moved together made me believe they were part of a solid object. The lights were above the tree line and appeared to be very close to me. I was worried that while I was sitting there the object/lights were going to fly over my house. They appeared to be much lower than an airplane would fly. I would estimate that they were approximately 100-200 feet in the air, maybe higher, but definitely below the light cloud cover. I remember thinking that when the object flew over, it was so low that I would be able to see all the detail and that frightened me. The lights were gliding very slowly, not wavering from their position in the triangle and moving in a westerly direction. The lights were circular in shape and were about five times brighter and larger than the brightest/largest star in the sky. I watched the lights for about 10 minutes as they moved west, toward me, and then they began to slowly fade until they appeared no brighter or larger than the average star."
November 4, 2012, 9:10 p.m., Herculaneum, Jefferson County, MO, Case 43707. "I looked up over the top the car to the southeast and observed three lights forming a triangle in the sky," the witness stated. "The lights stayed on and did not blink. I was able to determine that the object that the lights were attached to was dark and triangular-shaped. The object seemed fairly large. When I first observed the object it was hovering. I watched it for what seemed to be 30 seconds. All of a sudden the lights flashed very brightly and the object took off at a very high rate of speed. I also heard a 'whooshing' sound that did not sound like a helicopter or airplane."
November 4, 2012, 9:20 p.m., Oakley, Contra Costa County, CA, Case 43811. "We were at home and all heard a very loud rumbling sound," the witness stated. "It was like a 747 was dropping from the sky. We ran to our rear yard and immediately noticed a very large, narrow, triangular-shaped aircraft approximately 100 to 125 feet long and 50 to 75 feet wide. It had a solid smooth surface, straight lines, dark in color, with no writing or makings. There were three lights, one on each corner. It was flying very low and very slow, coming from the east over our housing track, and light enough to see pretty good. As it slowly passed, the aircraft was almost directly above the three of us and we all said the same thing. 'It has no wings and it has no rotors.' But what also struck us as odd, was that the narrow point of the triangle was in the rear, which is opposite of the Stealth Bomber and this aircraft was much narrower. We wondered if this was some new aircraft out of Travis Air Force Base which is about 40 miles north of us. Even so, why would the military be flying anything so loud and so low at that time of night over housing tracks? We watched for about two to three more minutes as it continued west and lost sight of it through the distant trees. Quite a sight to see!"
November 4, 2012, 9:35 p.m., Vallejo, Solano County, CA, Case 43726. "I was sitting at my computer and heard a loud humming noise and went outside to investigate to see what looked like a pentagon-shaped object flying above with four dim lights on each corner except the top," the witness stated. "I stood there in awe before realizing I needed to capture it, but by then it was too far to get on camera."
November 5, 2012, 8:27 p.m., Fayetteville, Cumberland County, NC, Case 43730. "It looked like a cop helicopter looking for someone low over houses to my left while driving south," the witness stated. "We live near Fort Bragg. Looked like this trangle withn three white lights sitting over houses near the intersection of Cliffdale and Prestige. I almost wercked my car. Turned around to get another look as quick as I could and it was gone."
November 6, 2012, 4:50 a.m., Hazelwood, St. Louis County, MO, Case 43755. "Noticed what I thought was an airplane fly across the highway," the witness stated. "It got above the field to the side of the highway I was on. I pulled over and watched it descend down while flying back over to the highway right over my car. The first time I saw it the only reason I noticed it was because it was hovering over the bridge like just above it making it maybe 100 feet above my car. Literally freaked me out a bit and then I kept seeing it more and more. I've seen it at least 15 times since August. A few of my coworkers have seen it too. Not really sure what it was but it's definitely an unidentified craft. It looks like the same craft seen in KC in July of this year."
November 6, 2012, 5:30 p.m., Jackson County, MO, Case 43750. "We were driving through our city to eat at a restaurant when we noticed a bright ball of light hovering over a central monument, Liberty Memorial," the witness stated. "We were curious and drove toward this part of town, only a five minute drive to reach this monument. We got there and the object began to move northwest at a slow stall and unusually low altitude. It became a jet. It flew low enough for us to see in detail the underbelly with no markings, all white, non-commercial jet making no sound. Our car did not vibrate as expected to be directly under a jet. I watched as the jet slowly passed over our windshield and then looked at it through the moon roof briefly. We were driving 25 mph. The scale was two-thirds the space of our moon roof. It took approximately three seconds to cross the moon roof view. It kept up its northwest flight path with a constant speed and altitude. We only lost sight because we went to our destination."
November 8, 2012, 8:15 p.m., Calabash, Brunswick County, NC, Case 43813. "The entire sky was filled with flashing white specs throughout the sky numbering close to a hundred," the witness stated. "This was followed by the appearance of 30 to 40 large, orange orbs that after 10 or so seconds disappeared. The transition from white flashes to orange orbs continued in various positions in the sky for about two hours.Towards the end of the night a triangularly-shaped, red light formation appeared, however, this was much, much, much different. This object was approximately 40 feet tall and I would estimate at its widest point at least a quarter mile wide. Truly amazing and scary at the same time. Each point of the triangle had its own red light and the ship flew with no sound and only 100-200 feet off the ground over houses and out towards the beach."
November 9, 2012, 7:40 p.m., Jacksonville, Duval County, FL, Case 43834. "I glanced upward and saw a very unusual 'airplane' at about 80 degrees," the witness stated. "It was triangle-shaped (equilateral) and had softly glowing white lights along its two forward edges. It appeared to be sub-divided by softly glowing lights into six smaller, equilateral triangles. It was moving at a high rate of speed in a straight-line flight path and I estimate that it was at an altitude of 5,000 feet. The object passed directly overhead and was silent. The object seemed to disappear when it was at about 70 degrees from my position. I estimate the duration of the event at between five and seven seconds."
November 10, 2012, 6:28 p.m., Castle Rock, Cowlitz County, WA, Case 43828. "Description of Objects: Three totally silent, solid, reddish, orange glowing spheres forming an equilateral triangle," the witness stated. "Size: Each sphere approximately the size of a dime held out at arm’s length. Event Description: At approximately 18:28 Pacific Standard Time on November 10th, 2012, I was driving southbound on Si Town Road toward my home. Three bright, reddish, orange spheres low to the ground initially caught my eye. Seconds after my initial visual acquisition these objects were momentarily obscured by trees. When I re-acquired these objects about two seconds later I now had an unobstructed view of them. They appeared to be hovering at this point at an altitude of 500 feet or perhaps less above ground level and about 1,000 feet horizontally to the southeast of my location. The ground level at this location is about 700 feet above sea level. The three objects were close enough to my car that I almost stopped my car as I actually feared that they might block the road, but they stayed hovering where they had been the whole time so I continued southbound on Si Town Road. They were totally silent. They did not blink, rotate or change color. They maintained a constant luminosity until the end of this event. They were each very bright and each sphere was about as big around as a dime held at arm’s length. At this point I was not sure if I was observing one solid triangular craft with lights at each corner, or if I was observing three independent objects. As I turned east onto Ness Road and approached my house about 45 seconds after initially acquiring these objects they began to maneuver independently of each other, but still over the same location. At this point they maneuvered into a straight line, equally spaced from each other and began to ascend. I quickly pulled into my driveway with the car facing basically toward the objects. At this point they all ascended vertically together with no horizontal travel noted. One by one each object faded out and disappeared up into the darkness."
November 14, 2012, 5:30 p.m., Mingo Junction, Jefferson County, OH, Case 43910. "I noticed a small object with red and white lights just above my neighbor's house. I think there were three lights but I do not remember exactly. I stood there looking at it wondering what it could be and I noticed the object was flying lower and coming closer toward me. It seemed to be doing a teetering or rocking motion. I stood there trying to make out what I was seeing. When the object neared the corner of my house, I quickly ran inside and locked my door. About five minutes later I grabbed my cell phone to see if I could get a video of it and it was no longer there."
November 16, 2012, 5:40 p.m., Willow Grove, Bucks County, PA, Case 44033. "I was driving towards the Pennsylvania Turnpike on November 16th, 2012, around 5:30 p.m. When I drove over the turnpike on Davisville Road, I noticed three unusual lights flying southwest. I then noticed that there were two more sets of these lights flying right behind it. It came across as unusual to me because there were no blinking lights like on normal planes and helicopters. It was also strange that these aircraft were flying close together in odd formations. I immediately took out my cell phone and took as many pictures while I could. Most of them came out a little fuzzy, but I did manage to get a few good ones. I knew as soon as I got the pictures, what I saw was something special. I lost sight of the aircraft as I was driving away."
November 16, 2012, 5:40 p.m., Southampton, Bucks County, PA, Case 44127. "I noticed stadium-bright lights in the southwest," the witness stated. "As I turned right onto County Line Road heading west, I realized that there were four triangular-shaped objects with extremely bright lights moving slowly at less than 100 over the shopping plaza to my left. I pulled off the road and took several pictures on my cell phone--incredulous at what I was watching transpire and surprised that others seemed oblivious. The whole event seemed unreal. The objects passed behind my vehicle, but they were definitely solid and triangular, with extremely bright lights on the perimeter."
November 17, 2012, 6 p.m., Richmond Heights, St. Louis County, MO, Case 44062. "I thought it was a fast moving lone cloud, but then it was clearly a black triangle when overhead and made no noise," the witness stated. "It only had some faint lighting around the edges, which may have been reflection from the city below. It disappeared over some high cirrus clouds, so I assume it was very large. It was stunning to watch and now to think about what it could be!"
November 25, 2012, 10 p.m., San Francisco, San Francisco County, CA, Case 44484. "I noticed some neighbors looking up at the sky," the witness stated. "I followed their glance and saw the formation of four objects in the eastern sky above San Francisco. The objects flew across the sky, in formation, quite quickly in multiple directions with rapid turns. They hovered at times, and then quickly flew around again. Mainly in formation, but a least least one object broke off, and then later rejoined the formation. This happened multiple times. After a few minutes, the objects started to reduce in light intensity, and then finally disappeared."
November 28, 2012, 6:05 p.m., Garland, Dallas County, TX, Case 44197. "When I arrived at work this morning I noticed some strange lights tracking very slowly from south to north," the witness stated. "They flew almost directly overhead at probably 5,000-10,000 feet. There appeared to be two distinct sets of three lights flying a hundred or so feet apart in formation. The objects appeared to be triangular with orange lights at the corners that twinkled slightly but didn't blink. The two craft were moving very slowly, definitely flying under 50 mph. I was parked and out of my truck and could hear absolutely no sound what so ever."
November 28, 2012, 7 p.m., Monroe, Union County, NC, Case 44200. "I live near a small municipal airport and I'm used to seeing low flying planes and have learned pretty much how to figure out the model of airplane," the witness stated. "But at around 1930 on Tuesday night I pulled up to an intersection and witnessed what appeared to be a plane flying very low. By the way, it was a rainy night with very low cloud cover. It was a triangular-shaped object with a white light on the back end and a dim greenish-blue light in the middle. When I saw it I figured that it was a plane on approach but as I watched it, it seemed flying too fast for a safe landing. When I saw the green light I thought it was a landing light and I waited for a blinking strobe which is a requirement for all airplanes, but witnessed none. I brought it to the attention of my grandmother in the passenger seat and in the time she took to look up to see it, it accelerated hard right and went behind a house. I stepped on the pedal to get to the top of a hill and see it again, but it was gone. I am very used to seeing low flying planes and helicopters, but this was unlike anything I have ever seen."
November 29, 2012, Waterloo, Laurens County, SC, Case 44239. "I have been seeing this same object for over a year," the witness stated. "Always between 8 and 9 p.m. Follows the same flight path southwest up Lake Greenwood to the southeast and then back southwest. I first noticed it while waiting outside for my ride to work. I always watch the sky. I try to catch sight of meteor showers or any falling stars. I thought it may be an airplane - there is a small airport in the adjoining county - until I saw the rectangular shape and heard no sound. It has three or four white lights down each side and two red or blue, blinking lights. It seems to disappear behind clouds when it starts back southwest. I can't seem to stop watching. I want to see it closer, but have no way of doing so."
November 30, 2012, 4:25 a.m., Raytown, Jackson County, MO, Case 44259. "As I turned the corner down the road a huge, black triangle object flying low, maybe twice tree top level came over my street moving northeast," the witness stated. "The object was moving very slow and as it crossed over the street and my car, it stopped just above the house on the east side of the street and hovered. The object was black, darker than the night sky with the exception of three very bright, pulsating lights at each corner and a large bright center light. The lights changed colors but did not appear to have any pattern to the movement. The object was absolutely huge. It easily covered the entire house and then some. I rolled my window down to take a picture and video with my cell phone but could not get it to come on. So I quickly made a sketch of what I was seeing on a receipt that I had in my car. The object started to move slowly and when I went to try and get my cell phone to work again and I looked up and the object was gone. There was no engine noise whatsoever and it was just gone."
November 30, 2012, 7:05 p.m., O'Neill, Holt County, NE, Case 44265. "My son and I were driving to our cabin when I noticed an object only a few hundred feet in the air," the witness stated. "It was moving slowly with several lights, almost resembling a combine in the air. It had one pulsating, orange-ish light and several small, white lights around the border that easily resemble stars, however, it defiantly formed the outline of the object. The first time we saw it for only 30 seconds before all of a sudden it was gone. The second time was a few miles further down the road when my son noticed it again. This time we watched it slowly move northeast, we were driving 70 mph and it was pulling away from us. At first I thought it could be a large aircraft like a B-2 bomber, however, I've never seen a plane that could move that slow. It definitely blended into the sky well but the lights easily made it stand out in the dark sky. I'm still very unsure what it is we saw but know for a fact its nothing like anything I've seen before."
