I was talking to a dead pilot in my home the other week who wants to know where his plane has gone missing?
He reports the number as 504 (whatever that means)
So I went to my Local Studies library to find out if one had gone missing in WW2
The librarian kinda of looked at me, chewing a sweet, staring in my eyes for about thirty seconds waiting for me to blink.
(what's up with some people?)
So she asked me to find out his name and the date he lost his plane and to come back.
Not to worry.

The pilots name is LEWIS HYLER.
At first, all this did not make any sense to me because we live in the country next to farmland in the middle of nowhere. As to be told that this place was bombed. I thought:- "Why....... there was nothing there to bomb!"
History
Our village sits about three miles away fro Eakring. Eakring produced oil up to the 1960s and was responsible for the oil production for Rolls Royce aircraft engines during WW2. ('Nodding Donkeys')
Germany wanted to bomb Eakring during the war and some of the stray bombs hit our village. Ossington Airfield is only three miles away and was used during WW2 for fighter planes which had 'dog fights' The MOD keep quiet about these things as it is secret information...this is why you will not find much on the Internet.
Unfortunately this pilot's plane came down as he shouted 'Mayday' He also used the expression "hells bells won't do it"
I looked this up on the Internet to discover that it was American slang...used by one of the pilots in the aircraft.
Some of My Early Recordings
Here you will need to turn your sound right up...(I mean really) I am talking about the pilot. (I meant air force pilot) and the noise rumble of a bomb laden plane is heard as I request about the noise. Then the table starts to shake as Julie does not notice.
The second video is the noise turned right up. You can tell that it is bomber noise
Thats me saying "Aye!!" as I thought I could hear a voice. Only Julie in the house.
"Hells bells won't do it" That is NOT me! At the time, I thought he said HILL bells? This is what I found on the Internet:-

Is this possibly the origin of the expression "hells bells"? ... Random House Dictionary of American Slang (RHDAS) ... I saw the song referred to above in a t.v. mini-series about WWII RAF pilots flying Spitfires against the ...
