Just been sent this by a friend of mine, hope you enjoy it. It isn't very big. UFO Encounter at Sea
The following account was submitted by an About.com reader.
My brother served a two-year hitch in the Navy during the late 60s, and was aboard a DD-class destroyer - the JW Thomason.
This was a smaller class destroyer that provided shelling support for troops inland from coastal waters and even a short ways up river in Viet Nam.
While crossing the Pacific on way to South East Asia, he was standing night watch on the bridge. This night was moonless, very dark, and the sea was calm.
UFO Approaches Ship
During the early morning hours he witnessed a UFO rapidly approach the ship.
He described it as more of a brilliant light that seemed to flit and then hover from one part of the ship's superstructure to another, as if studying it.
This went on for at least a few minutes, when the craft just as suddenly shot upward into the sky at a blinding speed. This was witnessed by a few other sailors as well as my brother.
At the end of his shift, he asked about how an entry was to be made in the ship's log of the incident, but the commander directed that no mention was to be made of the incident in the log or otherwise, as if it had never happened.
This is a prime example of why many good UFO sighting reports never become public, and therefore, never are researched. Source:- ufos.about.com/od/ufohistory/a/jwthomason.htm
