UFOs or Space Junk Near the Surface of the Moon? I came across this intersting video of UFO's or space debris moving around the edge of the moon. At this point I have no idea what this is, if its not cgi or space junk then what is it? Another thing to mention is that if this is space junk then it is Huge Id guess a mile in size. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh78FpOMTFQ

I would have to say IMO it's moving way to quick to be space junk near the surface of the moon if it is the size you think it could be, but could be smaller junk closer to the camera than it looks, and just giving the optical illusion of being near the surface? It just seems to move too quickly if it's as close to the moons surface as it appears. It certainly does not look like a UFO either. It's odd, but nothing which would make me think it was anything alien.

Yes its possible its closer than it appears, it could be something on the lense of the telescope even such as water droplets or dust.

I am thinking satellites but I am unprepared to prove my claim. Rainchecking. Well I did abit research on this and visited many Astronomy sites and forums to see if anything was mentiond about space debris or any other anomalie around the moon on the night of Saturday, July 09, 2011 in which this footage was taken. Waste of time this I know as there was always going to be a logical explanation for the footage. I asked the youtube uploader some questions here's what I asked: Hi flaxious Interesting video, could you tell me what kind of telescope and camera you used, also the magnification and whether or not you used digital zoom on the camera.
Can you tell me the location you were at when you took the footage ?
Was it taken through glass ?
Whats the exact time and date ?
Was the footage edited in anyway ? |
This is the reply I got: Taken through glass? No, it was just 'naked' lens, maximum optical zoom (30x) (camera on tripod, placed outdoors)
Time and date: Saturday, July 09, 2011, 10:11:16 PM GMT+1 I did not alter the footage, it is the original material.
Location: Netherlands. Though why does it matter? You can see the moon from everywhere |
I asked several times for the camera and telescope set up in which he failed to answer. I joined an Astronomy forum. ( Bad Astronomy & Universe Today forum ) I showed them the video to get there opinions. One thing for sure is that this is NOT Space Debris or a UFO. The general consensus on this is either: 1: Video Artifacts or 2: Dust on the sensor. This has come from several members of this forum and I agree with them 100%. These guys watch the moon daily and would have seen something like this but there is nothing at all within the Astronomy world. There is absolutely nothing at all on any Astonomy sites or forums that has any mention of this anomaly that is shown in the video These guys would know best as they are always looking at the skys The guy says he didnt use Digital zoom but the footage on the right hand side where the moon is zoomed in is done digitaly, so he is lying about that, which leads me to think this is nothing but camera artifacts.
