UFO's In The Highlands The Mystery Deapens
MORE mysterious sightings of UFOs have been reported in the Highlands.
In recent months the Highland News Group has had numerous reports of unidentified flying objects being spotted in the night skies along the Moray Firth coast, over Inverness, and more recently Tain.
The latest sighting was in Lochaber at the weekend.
Smelter worker Stephen MacLeod, of Riverside Grove, in Lochyside, was walking his dog just after midnight on Saturday near his home when he saw two bright orange lights appear on open moorland and come to a halt about a kilometre away from him.
"They appeared to be a couple of thousand feet high below the clouds at a point between Hawco's garage in Caol and Riverside Grove.
"There was absolutely no wind. When they approached one was on the horizon in the direction Banavie Quarry some distance behind the other..
"They seemed to circle above the moorland in between where I live and the garage. They then ended up side by side and disappeared at speed in the direction of Inverness.
"A third light then appeared. It travelled to the spot where the first two had stopped then it, too, headed towards Inverness." Stephen (43) said he has no particular interest in UFOs, but he recalled another incident about seven years ago when he stayed in Caol and saw a large glow in the sky.
"It came from the direction of the old pulp mill at Annat Point. It was a really big fireball and disappeared down Glen Nevis." After his experience on Saturday he went online and found reports of the sightings at Tain and around Inverness.
"I reported what I'd seen to police at Fort William and Inverness, but they dismissed it as Chinese lanterns..
"There was no wind and it appeared as if one of the lights had followed the other and they hovered together before heading north. The third one went almost to exactly the same spot too. They seemed to be about the size of helicopters.
"I'm surprised no one else has been speaking about this. I saw them for about 12 minutes and they were really bright. The world championship mountThere were a lot of people about Fort William.".
The latest UFO mystery is one of many reported recently..
But despite checks with Inverness airport and the RAF Moray bases there have been no reports of any untoward activity being picked up on radar. A spokeswoman for RAF Kinloss said the MoD no longer comment on UFO enquiries.
In March, Culloden man Rob Jackson reported UFOs over the Moray Firth, Inverness and Nairn on four occasions. His story was backed up by his mother who was a witness to one of the sightings.
Then on May 1, 25 orange lights were spotted by a group of students, pictured above, who were holidaying in Foyers.
At one point during the women's half-hour experience, two of the lights almost collided, but then quickly changed direction to avoid contact.
The next day Karl King, who works at RAF Lossiemouth, and his wife, Heather, reported UFO sightings in the direction of Inverness. Keen planespotter and part-time pilot Bill Renny from Anderson Street in Inverness saw another inexplicable object over the Kessock Bridge on the evening of Thursday, May 20 and Cathy Gunn from Wick saw a "glowing, tumbling light" three weeks ago over Tain .
