'Fuzzy' feelings and lost time after 90-minute UFO event in Eastern Kentucky
A group of Eastern Kentucky friends are left with "fuzzy" memories and feelings of "lost time" following a 90-minute event that included a power outage, odd purple lightning, sudden heavy, local air traffic, and three UFOs on August 5, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The friends were spending the night together when the power in the neighborhood went out at 4:30 a.m., sending them outside with curiosity.
But when they stepped outside, the group noticed "very strange lightning, purplish lightning with no thunder or rain to go with it."
Then the heavy air traffic. They claim that under normal circumstances, this is unusual. Seven aircraft were flying over the area "in patterns making a rough perimeter around the substation."
Then looking up in the sky, they noticed what they thought was a star that was "shining brighter than the others." The lightning flashed again, "the star became a reddish color," another lightning flash and the object was gone.
About 5 minutes later, they noticed "a bright egg-shaped object zipping across the sky." The object had no flashing FAA lighting, was silent, and in view for about one minute before vanishing.
Five minutes after this, a helicopter came into view. Then 20 minutes later, another egg-shaped object came into view, but "this one much closer, running a zigzag pattern before going behind some tress and fading out. These craft moved exceptionally fast, and performed moves planes cannot."
Everything seemed to return to normal and the group went inside - discovering that it was now 6 a.m. "Looking back we found the memories were really fuzzy and it had felt as if we had lost time - that time had went too fast."
The specific town name was not mentioned in the public portion of the MUFON report. No images or video were included with this report.
CAUTION: Some ufologists believe that there is time manipulation involved with UFO sightings. Witnesses may become disoriented during an event. Despite having a strong curiousity for UFOs, it is recommended that you take extreme caution with your personal safety first before attempting to get closer to an unknown craft or to attempt communication. Always keep a safe distance from any unusual craft, and seek shelter or assistance immediately if you feel threatened.
The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If Kentucky MUFON State Director David MacDonald investigates and reports back on this case, I will release an update. Please report UFO activity to MUFON.com.
KY, August 5, 2010 - 3 UFOs in less than 30 minutes. MUFON Case # 24979.
Early this morning, August 5th, around 4:30 am the power went out in my friend's home (I was staying the night there). Just not in his house, but the whole block the street lamps and all were out.
My friends and I worked up enough nerve to venture outside. It was pitch black, you literally couldn't see a foot in front of you.
Armed with some candles and a flashlight we witnessed very strange lighting, purplish lighting with no thunder or rain to go with it.
We also noticed a lot of air traffic roughly 7 planes flew over head during this time, we never have that much air traffic period in eastern Kentucky, the planes flew in patterns making a rough perimeter around the substation.
Shortly after the last of the planes we noticed one star shining brighter than the others.
Lighting flashed, the star became a reddish color, another flash and it was gone.
Less than five minutes after this we seen a bright egg shaped object zipping across the sky, no flashing lights like a plane and no sound. The object was in view for about a minute before vanishing.
Less than 5 minutes after this a helicopter flew overhead in the direction of the craft. We were reeling, after waiting about 20 minutes another egg shaped craft came into view, this one much closer, running a zig-zag pattern before going behind some tress and fading out. These craft moved exceptionally fast, and performed moves planes can not.
After the event everything returned to normal, no more objects or planes. It was 6 am by the time we were inside. Looking back we found the memories were really fuzzy and it had felt as if we had lost time/that time had went too fast.
